Actually, I recommend this circuit... I built it when I was a kid and
hung it on the front of a modified Philco table radio and it worked very
nicely to the point where the rotten selectivity of the radio was a problem.
The manufacturer probably never expected anyone to tear windings off the
AM loopstick to move it to 80M.

The book you may be looking for is called "Care and feeding of
POWER GRID TUBES" by Varian EIMAC. The copyright is 1967 and I
have a copy of the fourth printing which was in 1982. The Library of
Congress number is 67-30070. The book has about 160 pages and
covers just about everything a designer needs to know about
power tubes. The price printed on the cover is $5.95 in the US.
I got my copy for free from Varian EIMAC Division, 301 Industrial
Way, San Carlos, CA 94070.
I have no idea if it is still in print or available but I hope this
lead helps.

Several years ago I saved a similar (but different) 9-part
(counting a 2-winding tapped inductor as one part!) xmtr from either
73 or Ham Radio magazine. The design was "Thanks to WB6OMV" and
supposedly (I've NOT built one) ran about TWO WATTS output:

It can go a step farther. 426 = "ICM" and 526 = "JAN", so the numbers
spell out 1-800-JAN-XTAL and 1-800-ICM-XTAL. I wonder if the companies
realized the similarity of their mnemonics when they chose them?
